She has recently retired from her role as National Primary Care Clinical Program Manager at the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) where she was a key leader in the development and implementation of the VHA patient centered medical home model.
Paul Grundy, MD, MPH, FACOEM, FACPM
Paul is the Senior Medical Expert Advisor for Primary Care Transformation Experts LLC. Known as the "Godfather" of the Patient Centered Medical Home, member of the Institute of Medicine and recipient of the prestigious Barbara Starfield Primary Care Leadership Award in 2016 and the 2012 National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Quality Award, is IBM's Global Director of Healthcare Transformation.
Richard C. Stark, MD
Richard is a Senior Medical Consultant for Primary Care Transformation Experts. He s the former Director of Primary Care Operations for the Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, Washington, DC. In this role, Dr. Stark played an integral part in developing, leading and providing guidance to VA facilities on implementation of Patient-Aligned Care Teams (PACT), VA’s medical home model. Prior to assuming his position in VA Central Office, Dr. Stark was Associate Chief of Staff for Ambulatory Care for the VA New Jersey Health Care System where he managed Primary Care for two Medical Centers and ten Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) as well as other outpatient services while maintaining an active practice as a Primary Care provider. He is a graduate of Colgate University and New Jersey Medical School, trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
Gordon is a senior medical consultant for Primary Care Transformation Experts LLC. He is the former Primary Care Chief Consultant for the Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, where he played a pivotal leadership role to transform VA primary care toward an integrated interdisciplinary team approach providing comprehensive care focused on the Veteran’s well-being and quality of life. He was instrumental in promoting education, training and research initiatives that continue to provide ongoing instruction and evaluation. Dr Schectman has over 20 years of health care leadership experience at the facility, regional and national level and has also had strong academic ties to the Medical College of Wisconsin with over 50 peer reviewed publications in the medical literature, many in areas of health care evaluation and policy.
Mary-Ellen Piche CPHQ, FACHE
EMary-Ellen is the Senior Patient Experience Advisor for Primary Care Transformation Experts LLC. As faculty for the American College of Healthcare Executives, she designs and delivers patient experience seminars. In addition, she works with primary care practices to implement the quality management and patient experience aspects of the Patient Centered Medical Home. Certified as a black belt in LEAN Management, Mary-Ellen previously served as a consultant specialist for Planetree, Inc. She retired from her role as Medical Center Director/CEO of the Albany VA in 2010.
