This old-fashioned typewriter eraser was our inspiration to encourage playwrights to write… workshop… re-write… collaborate with directors, actors, and designers… share with audiences… and enjoy the process.

We have had the privilege of presenting over 50 readings, workshops, and productions of new plays since our inception. Here’s a gallery of some of our work from 2003 - present.

About Us

Founded in 2003, we’re all about providing visibility to Philadelphia-area playwrights and their work. Since PTW is constantly on the lookout to do a fun NEW play in a fun creative or found space, let us know if there’s one or the other we should know about!

We also like to host readings of new plays that we call Playshops. If you’re a Philadelphia-area playwright with something HOT off your printer, contact us.

Bill Felty founded Philadelphia Theatre Workshop in 2003 which has since produced dozens of readings, workshops, full productions and world premieres (many of which he directed). He has also directed for theatres in Philadelphia, New York, and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. He is currently working on his fourth play as a playwright and is a full-time faculty member at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Kathy Anderson is a playwright and fiction writer, member of the Dramatists Guild and the National New Play Exchange. Her plays have been produced and staged in the U.S. and Ireland. Her short story collection, Bull and Other Stories (Autumn House Press, 2016), won the Autumn House Press fiction prize, was long listed for The Story Prize and was a finalist for the Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction and the Lambda Literary Awards.
